Meeting HRH the Queen in Buckingham Palace
What a fantastic 24 hours! 5 students and 5 of us staff (including the Chairman of Governors) have just spent the morning at Buckingham Palace with HRH Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Princess Anne, receiving a Queens Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. It was a full "honours" ceremony and a wonderfully relaxed and dignified affair. Our students, all of whom have Aspergers, were extremely excited to meet the Royal Family and they behaved impecably, showing exactly the right sort of decorum befitting the role as ambassadors for Further Education. The Palace is an amazing place full of splendour and history. Our students (and we staff, too!)loved it! Yesterday evening a different group of us went to the Guildhall in London as part of the celebrations where the Queen's Anniversary Trust held a superb dinner - accompanied by "appropriate pageantry and music". It was absolutely lovely and there were a host of VIPs there - famous actors, musicians, artists and sportsmen. A delightful evening. What an amazing 24 hours for City College Norwich!
